Rob is the Chairman of O’Neill Hotels & Resorts ’s. Mr. O’Neill was the co-founder of Canadian Hotel Income Properties, Real Estate Investment Trust (CHIP REIT) and served as its President & CEO until September 1998.  Mr. O’Neill also was a founder of the Coast Hotel chain in 1972.  In 1988, he sold the family chain to OKABE of Tokyo and was retained to manage it until 1991.  Concurrently with development and management of the Coast Hotel chain, Mr. O’Neill was President and Chief Operating Officer of National Caterers Ltd. from 1977 to 1991.  National Caterers Ltd. was Canada’s largest operator of remote site construction camps providing food, lodging and support services for construction workers. He then went on to found O’Neill Hotels & Resorts and CHIP REIT in June ’97 with his brother John.  CHIP REIT was Canada’s first Hotel Real Estate Trust, currently comprising 36 Hotels with 8,000 rooms and a public market capitalization of approximately $300 million. Mr. O’Neill was also President of the Pipeline Contractors’ Association of Canada from 1987 to 1988, Secretary of the Canadian Council of the Young Presidents’ Organization from 1988 to 1991 and a Member of the Advisory Council of Guelph University, Advanced Management Program for the Hospitality Industry from 1987 to 1991. Mr. O’Neill, along with his brother John, was nominated for the Entrepreneur of the Year award in 1999. Rob is married to Bev and they are parents to Taryn, Tim and Sean.
